OpenUAV, Open Source UAV Project
OpenUAV project is alive
This site is dedicated to the open development of low cost state-of-the-art UAV's (unpiloted aerial vehicles, or robotic airplanes). The project includes not only the airborne hardware and software, from voltage regulators and GPS receivers to kalman filtering code, but also a powerful and ever-expanding array of ground hardware and software including modems, antennas, and a highly evolved user-friendly ground control software interface. All source code/hardware schematics are open source (GPL) and can be freely downloaded from this site.
25 September 2007 Classix Flight Computer, with 600 Mhz Linux Gumstix
The Classix autopilot was designed for advanced applications. Dual processors provide a true hardware segregation of critical code for reliability - allowing the user to run experimental navigation or payload control software without fear of a processor crash causing a total loss of control. A 600Mhz Verdex embedded linux, Gumstix is included so that the autopilot can be directly interfaced with this small onboard Linux PC for advanced video processing, sensor management, or sophisticated navigation routines such as sense-and-avoid or target following.

10 March 2007 INS 6 degrees of freedom - with gps
Complete Inertia Measurement System - 6 degrees of freedom, with built in GPS. OpenUAV's INS, developed by Astroplanes, utilizes the single IC triple axis accelerometer from Freescale MMA7260Q,
2 dual axis IDG300 MEMs gyroscope, 20 channel SiRF III GPS and a dual axis Honeywell magnetometer.
Roll, Pitch, and Yaw gyro sensors, 3 tilt axis, 1hz high sensitivity GPS, and two
magneto readings (accelerometer reading can be used to offset tilt error). Unprecendted power in a single small footprint, low cost solution.
Advanced firmware allows individual channels to be turned on/off, select different sensitivities on the accelerometers, and output type between either binary/ASCII formats.
This INS comes fully assembled and tested. All sensors are soldered in place, JTAG programmers and free software development IDE's are available for download.
